This month at Jolt
Congrats to the Jolt Softball Team on their first season! We can't wait for next season!
We're kicking off this month with the Resurgence Cycle, an 8-week block that bridges the gap between base building and sport performance. You'll see fresh training formats designed to prepare you for lifting under fatigue, gymnastics-dense workouts, and longer conditioning pieces. It all builds toward the Summer Sizzler gauntlet in Week 7, so get ready to push your limits and see what all that hard work has been building toward. Let's make it a strong month!

When did you start your weightlifting journey?
I lifted some weights in college and in my early 20’s, but I didn’t start training seriously again until my son Julian was born about two years ago. I had some serious injuries while serving overseas in the Peace Corps in my mid-20’s that took a long time to recover from. When Julian was born I was determined to get back into shape so I could parent the way I had always imagined.
Have you noticed any changes since you started working out at Jolt?
Definitely. When I first started at Jolt I was worried every exercise was going to cause an injury. Now I can move around with so much more confidence. Outside the gym I don’t need to think about physical limitations any more and I’ve seen my weights, cardio, and gymnastics increase meaningfully during classes. Now I can just throw on running shoes and go for a run or hop into a handstand without needing worrying about it.
What do you love most about being part of Jolt?
Jolt feels like a small town gym in all the best ways. The community feels fitting for Lambertville. It feels like everyone is in it together at Jolt, not like some place you just pay to go work out. Everyone wants to see the gym and community thrive.
What is your favorite movement?
I like cleans. It feels really empowering to pick up a bunch of weight off the ground. When I first started working out at the Jolt I was nervous to add any weight to the bar. It’s been really cool to see my weights go up over time. I have a lot of confidence picking up my son over my head or helping vendors at the farmers market load up their trucks thanks to the movements we train at Jolt like cleans.
What is the recent PR that means a lot to you?
The last time we tried a max lift for cleans I think I got around 160 which was pretty cool. I felt like I probably could have done more, but going into the gym that day I was shooting for 135!
Would you rather do 500 Pull-Ups or 500 Wall Balls?
It would take me all week to do 500 pull-ups so, let’s go with wall balls!
