This month at Jolt

April flew by and now it's time to finish what we started!

We're closing out the Novus Cycle this month with a focus on Murph prep (Memorial Day is coming!), threshold interval work to dial in your conditioning, and strength retests on front squats, strict press, and weighted pull-ups. All that positional work and technique refinement over the past seven weeks is about to pay off.

Let's see those gains and finish Novus strong!

Scaled options available for all fitness levels, and we’ll celebrate afterward with food and drinks! 🇺🇸💪

When did you start your fitness journey?

I started running like Forrest Gump in 2015. Ran my first official 5k July 4th that year. Revolutionary Run along PA side of the river in Washington Crossing State Park. I ran outside until it got really cold out, and was looking for a gym in the fall. CrossFit Headway had placed a yard sign in the lawn near my office parking space. It was right down the street so I checked it out. Owners were really welcoming. Figured I’d give it a shot. Never did any group fitness class prior. Didn’t think I’d stick with this long to be honest. But here I am 11 years later, still grinding it out. 

What do you love most about being part of Jolt?

I love the vibes and the other people. There’s not a lot of ego in the air at Jolt. Everyone is cool. Also, Gabe’s FB story videos where he’s outside doing his thing and pointing at the Jolt sign are my absolute favorite.

Which movement feels like your strongest?

Bar muscle ups & strict pull ups. 

Do you have a quote or mantra that keeps you going?

Not particularly. But my neighbor is really insightful older dude. He comes up with some thoughts here and there that make me ponder things. Other folks experience is a gift if you accept it.

What is your favorite high-protein snack?

Slop bowl. I just throw whatever protein we have ready to cook together with some rice. Sometimes I get wild and add black beans too. 

Which challenge would you choose: 500 Toes‑to‑Bar or 500 Wall Balls?

T2B. The thought of 500 WB makes my knees hurt.
